Hey gal pals! AND Happy New Year 🥳

the dress is linked HERE for easy shopping (as of 1/1/21 it is on SALE for $24!!!!)

Wow, 2020 was a doozy. I reflected a lot on 2020 over the last week, and honestly SO MUCH GOOD came out of the past year. I started this blog, I created a community of like-minded women, I GOT ENGAGED, I was able to continue providing psychosocial healthcare as a Certified Child Life Specialist, I volunteered for The Miss America Organization, I was able to continue working for the Association of Child Life Professionals, and I figured out what fueled my fire when the world basically stopped turning. So as you reflect on 2020, I encourage you to choose to see the good. Definitely feel and reflect on the bad, but your POSITIVE mindset is what helps you grow and succeed. I hear you, it has been a HORRIBLE year. But if you choose to ruminate on the negative, you won’t be able to GROW.

Anyways, onto 2021! Last year, in my second blog post ever (linked HERE), I shared that I don’t like resolutions. SHOCKER haha. I actually set goals last year, and I met most of them but have plenty of room to grow! BUT THIS YEAR. . . my word is INTENTIONAL. I am setting INTENTIONS this year.

But first, in true nerdy Sammi fashion 🤓, I have to share the science behind my decision. This is what you get for following a Child Life Specialist/Psychosocial Healthcare Provider haha! See the infographics I made below to learn the difference between a GROWTH vs a FIXED mindset. Resolutions are a fixed mindset. Intentions are a growth mindset.

Intentions are not an end goal but a journey to making you the best version of you possible. This doesn’t happen overnight, or even in a year. It takes consistent work towards the journey of meeting your goal, and intentions teach you how to get there. Intentions ground you in the present and help you grow, whereas resolutions set end goals in the future with no support to get you to that goal. For example, if you set a resolution to work out every weekday and you miss a day. You didn’t meet your resolution. BUT it was one day, and in the grand scheme of things, you STILL improved as a person. On the other hand, if your intentions are to work out more in the exact same scenario. . . YOU MET THAT INTENTION!

Sharing my intentions for the year below to keep myself accountable:

  • Be Proactive

    • With my health and wellness. Make this a priority. Make appointments, get massages, focus on my body.

  • Be Consistent

    • With my blog. I want to keep GROWING and the only way to do that is through consistency and follow up.

  • Be PRESENT

    • With ALL of my personal relationships. AND with wedding planning. Living in the moment in this one life we have been BLESSED with.

  • Be Organized

    • We are moving again (within Charlotte, don’t worry!). AND with my blog, child life job, and finances. Keeping my blog and personal things separate!

What are your New Year’s Resolutions, Goals, or Intentions? Just because I don’t love resolutions, doesn’t mean I won’t support yours! That growth mindset allows me to support you even if we are doing the same OR different things!

Talk soon gal pals, 2021 is OUR year!
